There is a critical need for more volunteer Long-Term Care Ombudsman countywide, to advocate for vulnerable seniors living in local assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. We are especially trying to reach retired professionals. A Long-Term Care Ombudsman is a trained volunteer who advocates for the rights of residents in skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities and improve residents’ quality of life. Even a small change in a resident’s care can make a major difference in quality of life. Ombudsman make a difference by: visiting residents of long term care facilities, advocating for quality of care, preventing elder abuse, conducting investigations and many more services.
