In 1882, over 120 years ago, the Reverend J.P. McCorkle along with about 30 residents of the sparsely populated Central City formed the Christian church. Formerly called Grangefield, our beautiful Santa Maria Valley then had 600 residents and the First Christian Church was one of three churches.

These facilities served our church until 1953 when overcrowding and condemned by the city forced a move to South East Street from the original location on McClelland and Church Streets (under the current mall).

The facilities on South East Street served the Santa Maria Valley for 37 years. In the 1980's it became clear that we would need new facilities. God provided the Rice Tract of land, and we embarked upon another adventure.

Our church currently sits upon 15.3 acres, which were a part of the tract that now houses the Ford Dealership, Edwards Theater, Office Depot and various other businesses. FCC was the catalyst for developing this area and paving the way for our current facilities. We moved onto our current campus the first Sunday of December 1990. The first Sunday of December remains our Day of Rejoicing celebrating the good gifts God has given us.
