Engaging the people of First Christian Church with our community and with our world” We define this engagement as “bringing together God’s supply and human need”. Our primary goal is community transformation—both ours (FCC) and theirs (our community and our world). We also want to provide the people of FCC with meaningful opportunities to live out their faith in our church, our community and our world.

Angel Tree is a ministry that reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ.

Every child has a story. For 1.5 million American children, that story is filled with the abandonment, loneliness, and shame that comes from having a mom or dad in prison.

Angel Tree has two primary initiatives:

1.  Angel Tree Christmas - This works by connecting parents in prison with their chilren through the delivery of Christmas gifts.  Every Christmas, we help brighten the lives of about 60 local children by purchasing, wrapping and delivering gifts on behalf of their incarcerated parent - not only delivering a message of love from parent to child, but also the true meaning of Christmas - the good news of Jesus Christ.

2.  Angel Tree Camp - Since 2005, volunteers from First Christian have extended the Angel Tree ministry by arranging for prisoners' children to attend a Christian summer camp for (4) days at Calicinto Ranch in San Jacinto, CA.  Camp can be one of the most life-changing experiences that children of incarcerated parents can have. Camp gives the child an opportunity to have fun, fellowship with their peers, build relationships with caring camp mentors, and to experience the love of God in the great outdoors.

ENGAGE

What can you do to engage with Angel Tree?

Angel Tree Camp is Monday, June 25 until Thursday, June 28, 2012

  • A good way to extend your Angel Tree ministry throughout the year is to arrange for prisoners' children ages 7-11 years old to attend Christian summer camp.
  • Camp can be one of the most life-changing experiences that children of incarcerated parents can have. Camp gives the child an opportunity to have fun, fellowship with their peers, build relationships with caring camp counselors, and to experience the love of God in the great outdoors.
  • The camping experience gives the children the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with God. At camp many children will make a first-time decision to trust in Jesus Christ or deepen their commitment to Him. And the growth that begins at camp is reinforced and nurtured when your church provides follow-up support for the kids after they return.
  • How can you help?  Be a Mentor, training is required, along with a live scan and background check, and a love for kids and Jesus!  Donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Checks should be made to FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH memo: for Angel Tree Camp. The cost for a child to attend is 165.00. We also have transportation costs.  Helping in anyway, such as prayer for our trip, signing children up, and the day of registration is needed.
