First Christian is a Church dedicated not only to the honor of God, but to people who might otherwise not attend church. We are deliberate in our attempt at making people feel welcomed.
We believe that God has a desire to relate to everyone through grace and forgiveness. To that end, our services have contemporary music, so that non-churched people will be able to relate. (Now if Pastor Clete had his way, we'd all be singing Johnny Cash tunes). We don't put a lot of emphasis on externals. Our understanding is that God works in people’s hearts and souls and His Spirit will be the motivating factor in our actions. Our sermons, while biblically founded, often address “life issues" rather than weighty theological issues. Therefore, we are considered a casual church. Many people enjoy our friendly, casual, relevant services as they seek to follow Jesus in their daily lives.
